Festival '20 Winners
12/21/20 --- MAMTG received a Covid grant of $1,000. This grant will be utilized for the Cash Awards for Festival '20. As always, cash award checks are made payable to the member school or member teacher (not the student or parent directly). The 1st place winning students from these events will likely be contacted by their member school soon or in January '21: Piano Virtuoso Solo, Virtuoso Classical Voice, Idol Level 4, Theatre Level 4 and Talent Showcase Covers Level 2.
7/18/20 --- Congratulations to all Festival '20 performing students. Participating students deserve a huge round of applause for adapting, continuing with your music education and keeping the music alive. Open the PDF to see winning students.
Performance feedback will be emailed to Member Schools and Member Parents during the week of July 20, 2020.
Retrieving trophies & medals
We will be emailing Member Schools and Member Parents regarding options to retrieve any trophies or medals. 8/11/20 --- Member Schools and Private Teachers --- We will need to know by 8/17/20 what your choice is for retrieving any trophies or medals -- By picking-up in East Brunswick, NJ or having them shipped to you. Emails have been sent with instructions. Please let us know if you have not done so already. We do not have the means to store trophies and medals past 9/1/20. Thank you.
3 Winners Versus 5 Winners
Competitions that have up to six students have awards for 1st, 2nd and 3rd place. Competitions that have seven or more students have awards for 1st through 5th place. Competitions that have between twelve to sixteen students and more are split up into (A) and (B) groups.
We received some interest in having a Watch Party, to view all performing students. Yes, this would be great. A first step would be each Member School, Member Teacher and Member Parent - in each competition - to sign a waiver allowing their student's unlisted or essentially private video - that was only shared for internal viewing with MAMTG - to now be shared and viewable for the public. Let us know, we'll email a waiver to complete.
Thank you, to the member schools, teachers and member parents that displayed great professionalism, kindness and encouragement for Festival '20 to continue as an Online Festival. Being able to offer Festival '20 online was a significant task to say the least. We understand an extra task was required for teachers and parents to assist students with preparing a video performance.
Making the decision to move Festival '20 to an Online Festival - and then designing a process that was efficient for everyone involved - schools, teachers, students, parents and us here - was an initial series of challenges with much thought and thorough testing. During April, while we were hoping for and working towards a rescheduled weekend with the hotel, we're now relieved the decision was made then for an online event. As of this writing - 8/27/20 - we still could not have rescheduled April's weekend for an in-person Festival due to government restrictions on events of MAMTG's size.
Thank you, adjudicators. You all spent a tremendous amount of extra time to ensure performance feedback was not only helpful, but sympathetic to this time we are in together. A special thanks, to those that really came through, expressed their confidence in MAMTG and showed great professionalism throughout the entire online process. Like with every Festival, the adjudicators' awarding decisions, feedback and scores are final.
To all the students, teachers and parents that adapted and persevered --- You deserve a big round of applause for continuing your music education and being evermore independent during the '19-'20 school year. The biggest applause goes to the students, for staying the course, keeping your music alive and seeing this through. Students, remember that you did it. Not only did you keep music in your life, you did what was required to continue and made the best of the situation. Whether you're a beginner or advanced player, the effort you displayed during an unknown and stressful time will get you very far in life. Kudos to those that saw the positivity and creativity in having Festival '20 online and to those that remained professional and respectful.
There will not be a Festival '21. Keep music alive. Perhaps we'll see you for '22.
7/23/20 - Trophy/medal retrieval options
7/23/20 --- Member Schools, Member Teachers and Member Parents (there are only a few Member Parents) will be receiving their performance feedback very soon. Contained in that email will include these options --- To retrieve and pick-up trophies and medals in East Brunswick, NJ during the month of August -- or -- To have trophies and medals shipped. We recommend picking-up trophies and medals. We wouldn't want anything to be lost or damaged in shipping. Upon receiving your performance feedback, Members will see the options and instructions for shipping. It is the responsibility of the Member to pay for shipping and distribute any awards, certificates, trophies and medals to awarding students. WE CANNOT HOLD TROPHIES & AWARDS PAST 9/1/20. MEMBER SCHOOLS & TEACHERS ARE TO INFORM MAMTG BY MONDAY, 8/17/20 AS TO THE PREFERENCE - SHIPPING OR PICKING-UP. Please, check and read the MAMTG emails. Thank you.
